  • Ophthalmology

Associate Professor Lee is the Head of Illawarra Ophthalmology and one of the most experienced micro incision cataract surgeons in Australia. He has performed more than 15 000 cataract surgeries in his career. His priority is to provide excellence in vision with the highest level of safety. Professor Lee introduced cataract surgery under topical anaesthesia to the Illawarra. This eliminates many of the complications that can occur with injections for anaesthesia prior to cataract surgery. Professor Lee performs all his cataract surgeries by this method. His rooms in Figtree and Wollongong are equipped with the latest diagnostic equipment and lasers to provide the best possible treatment for his patients.

Associate Professor Lee is also a comprehensive ophthalmologist and provides a service for patients with glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, eyelid surgery and paediatric eye disease.

He operates at the Wollongong Hospital, Shellharbour Hospital, Wollongong Private, the Wollongong Day Surgery, and Shellharbour Private Hospitals.

Associate professor Lee regularly works and teaches in developing nations in Asia and Africa. He is a keen, competitive surf ski paddler and together with his wife is an active member of St Michaels Anglican Church Wollongong.
