Dr Niu is an Australian-trained Orthopaedic surgeon with special interest and expertise in conditions of the Elbow and Shoulder; including arthroscopic minimally invasive surgery, joint arthroplasty, treatment of a spectrum of sports injuries and degenerative conditions.

In 2007, he graduated from medicine at the University of New South Wales with First Class Honours. He went on to undertake his Advanced Orthopaedics Surgery training in Sydney at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Royal North Shore Hospital and the Children's Hospital at Westmead. In 2016, Dr Niu received his Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the Australian Orthopaedic Association.

Dr Niu is passionate about education as well as training and research. He has been a Lecturer at UNSW and is a Faculty with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in the Early Management of Severe Trauma (EMST).
